Building your first timeline can be very intimidating, here are a few tips and tricks we recommend to help build your deck.

Become a Champion!

There are currently 12 champions in Genesis, each with their strengths and weaknesses. The only way to figure out which one is the right fit for you is by playing with them. However, there are a few things we can look at to determine where to start.

BREAKING DOWN A CHAMPION

Every champion has 3 core stats: Starting Health, Starting Aura, and Energy Reduction.

The higher your starting health, the more forgiving the champion will play when they are engaged in combat. Having this leeway is essential for players who are newer to the game or for players who love to run into battle. Champion's health’s can range from 18 to 30.

Your starting aura will help you gauge how many aura casting cards you should put in your timeline. Aura cards are beneficial and powerful, but running out of Aura is not a good feeling. The range for starting Aura is between 80 and 150.

Your energy reduction will let you know how many physical attacks you can do in a game—the majority of the physical actions in the game cost energy. Energy is paid by sending cards from the top of your timeline to your memories. Having an energy reduction is important because you lose the game once you run out of cards in your timeline. Energy reduction can range from 0 to 2.

Your affiliations will indicate which cards you can put in your timeline. Each affiliation represents a different mentality and playstyle. To learn more about the affiliations, go here -->

Weave your Timeline and Balance your Chi

Your timeline has to follow 3 simple rules:

  1. All cards in your Timeline must share affiliations with your Champion.

  2. Your Timeline needs to be exactly 50 cards.

  3. The total sum Chi value of your Timeline must be 250 or less.

As long as you adhere to these rules, you can have as many copies of a card in your timeline as you’d like.

A card’s Chi can range from 3 to 8, which can make balancing confusing. To help you build your timeline, you should note that in a 50 card timeline, with 250 points, the average card’s Chi is 5. The best way to take advantage of this information is by pairing two cards together to have the sum chi equal to 10. To do this:

However, balancing 8’s are much harder. In that case, I recommend balancing four cards together to a total sum of 20. To do that, put together an 8, 5, 4, and 3, which sums out to 20 (Like Zanbur-Dragon, with Jaelarian Hound and Jaelarian Mist and Dusk Trail Mouse).
